How We Check Cleaners

Anyone can build a website. What matters is what’s checked behind it. Here is exactly what we check, and what we don’t.

What we check

✔ Email confirmed

Every cleaner confirms their email address before they can go live.

✔ ABN

We check every ABN with the Australian Business Register and only accept ABNs that are active. The badge "ABN checked" means this check passed.

✔ One ABN, one profile

An ABN can only be used on one profile, so the same business can't create several.

✔ Verified insurance badge

Our team has looked at the cleaner's public liability insurance certificate and recorded its expiry date. The badge disappears automatically when the insurance expires.

✔ Group member badge

We have confirmed the cleaner is a member of the Cleaners in Sydney Facebook group.

✔ Reviews

Verified job reviews come only from customers who posted a job here and told us they hired that cleaner. Past customer reviews come from customers the cleaner invited; we confirm the reviewer's email address but can't confirm the job.

✔ Police check & WWCC badges

Optional. A cleaner can upload a National Police Check or add a Working With Children Check number. Each badge only appears after our team has checked it, and it expires (police check after 12 months, WWCC on its expiry date).

✔ Responsiveness

Cleaners who ignore job leads are paused automatically, so you're not left waiting.

What we don’t check

  • We don’t run police checks ourselves — the Police check badge means our team has sighted the cleaner’s own certificate. We don’t check workers compensation.
  • We can’t guarantee the quality of any clean. Cleaners are independent businesses, not our employees.
  • We don’t take payment. You agree the price and pay the cleaner directly, so there is no deposit for us to hold or lose.

Protect yourself

  • Get the price and what’s included in writing (text or email) before the job.
  • Ask to see their insurance certificate if it matters to you, especially for end of lease and commercial work.
  • Never pay the full amount upfront to someone you haven’t met.
  • Check their reviews and look for the Verified badge.

Something not right?

Every profile, offer, hiring ad and review has a Report link. A real person reads every report, and we remove cleaners who break our rules. You can also report a problem here.
